The Computer Vision Area at Tecnalia is now accepting candidates for an open position under the TIFER programme. We are looking for motivated professionals to join the team in one of the following research lines:

Image Understanding / Medical Image Analysis
We are searching for individuals with interest and knowledge in the fields of natural image understanding and medical image analysis with focus: spatial/temporal image and video descriptors, classification algorithms, information retrieval techniques, image segmentation and/or image enhancement algorithms. The applicants should demonstrate knowledge on novel computer vision and machine learning techniques applied to one or both fields.

Spectral Analysis
We are searching for individuals with interest and knowledge in the fields of spectral information analysis. The applicants should have previous knowledge on hyperspectral imaging or other kind of chemical characterization technologies (like LIBS, Raman, FT-IR spectroscopy). Additionally, the applicants should demonstrate knowledge on signal processing and in general computer vision and/or machine learning techniques.

Tecnalia → is the largest private Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+i) group in Spain and one of the leading ones in Europe, with a staff of over 1,400 people and a turnover of 125 million euros. Tecnalia’s lemma is to develop technologies that can be converted in value and benefits for our clients and the overall society. One of the main targets of any project in Tecnalia is the technology development and transfer towards the industry.

The Computer Vision Area → offers a great opportunity to apply state-of-the-art knowledge into real world problems. Our clients search for completely functional solutions so the applicants should be able to work with teammates, clients and persevere in the search of the solution. The team is part of the ICT/ESI division and has over 25 years of experience in the fields of image processing and intelligent systems’ development. Throughout these years, the group has obtained 19 patents in the field of computer vision, has completed over 250 computer vision projects and its results have been published in prestigious scientific publications. Furthermore, it obtained the ONCE Foundation International R&D Award as well as the EARTO-2011 European Innovation Award. Our facilities are located just a few km away from Bilbao (Spain).

TIFER (/Tecnalia’s International Fellowships For Experienced Researchers/) supports the temporary incorporation (2 years) of experienced researchers to Tecnalia to develop their proposed research projects with our research teams and facilities. The aim of the programme is to foster and consolidate the European Research Area (ERA) by attracting talented researchers and developing their careers. This programme is co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme (COFUND – People – Marie Curie Actions).
– Candidates must be non-residents undertaking trans-national mobility ( Definition of trans-national mobility: at the time of the deadline for submission of proposals, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date).
– Candidates must hold a PhD Degree at the moment of the start of the fellowship, or must have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience (including the period of research training) after the degree which formally allowed them to embark on a doctorate.
– Candidates must propose a research Project aligned with strategic research fields for Tecnalia.
